The paper actualizes the problem of musical and performing terms and concepts from the point of view of the possibility of a deeper understanding of the mentality and culture of foreign students from the People’s Republic of China. The authors’ perspective of consideration and understanding of musical and performing terminology, its content and features of semantic perception and characteristics of its meaning in various historically determined cultural and educational spheres of functioning, allows to find optimal ways to reveal and better understand foreign language culture. The authors of the paper also focus on certain results of the analysis, which are aimed at forming an active dialogue of cultures between the peoples of the two countries, promoting both creative interaction and the exchange of pedagogical concepts that underlie the music and educational system of Russia and China. The research is conducted on the basis of the Khabarovsk State Institute of Culture and the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia.
