N-alkylbenzens and 1-N-alkylnaphtalenes in Upper Devonian oils of the Timan-Pechora basin

The aromatic fractions of Upper Devonian oils from Timan-Pechora province were GC-MS investigated. Oils under study are differentiated into groups according to their distribution in the n-alkylbenzenes and n-alkylnaphthalenes. For a number of oils, we have found a sharp dominance homologues composition C21, other are characterized by the dominance of the C21 and C23 homologues, several oils characterized by a series of oils “smooth” distribution of these groups of compounds. We have revealed parallel distribution of n-alkylbenzenes and n-alkylnaphthalenes, which may indicate the formation of them in a single process, for example by polyenes cyclization proposed by I.K. Ivanova and V.A. Kashirtsev in 2010 as a way of alkylbenzenes formation.
