The beginning of geopolitical and regional studies in Russia in the 18th century

The origin and the becoming of different branches of scientific knowledge including geopolitical and regional studies were the essential features of Russian history and culture of the 18th century. The development of the mentioned scientific branches was due to the progress of historical, geographical and economical thought. I.K. Kirilov, G.F. Miller, M.V. Lomonosov, P.I. Rychkov, V.N. Tatischev and other Russian scientists played an important role in rising of the social importance of regional and global studies.
