National idea: essential features, features and problems of formation

The article provides arguments in defense of the thesis that the national idea for each historical community is a vital component, since it gives society a universally significant goal, and therefore the meaning of existence. In addition, the authors consider the logic of the process of formation of the national idea and state ideology, analyze the reasons why, despite the presence in Russia of a social order for the national idea, its content remains blurred.
