Focusing on modern Buryatia, the article discusses the phenomenon of cultural ethnosphere as the space of ethnic identity and a form of inclusion in the social processes. The author argues that present-day processes in Buryat fine arts and literature are the cultural embodiment of ethnic ideology, at the same time contributing to its depoliticization. Due to the educational function, art practices serve to provide the ethnic group with the information on national achievements and traumas, features of its historical development, and grounds for ethnic pride. Holistic view of the ethnic culture contribute to the development of positive ethnic and national identity.
