The national payment service provider as an institution of Russian economy

The article defines the economic essence of the national payment service providers and their role in Russian economy. As there is no accepted academic definition of the term, the authors suggest an all-inclusive definition of this institution and specify its main functions in the financial infrastructure. The article defines the problems which hinder the efficiency improvement of the national payment service providers and potential ways of solving them.
