The article discusses the features of the state national policy associated with changes of socio-economic and cultural development of the indigenous peoples during the first postwar decade. Basing upon government resolutions of that period, the author reviews the measures taken for development of public education, including improvement of material and technical equipment of schools, transition to the compulsory seven-year education, learning of Russian language starting from the third grade.
