National specifiticy of concepts heart and Herz

National peculiarities of concepts heart and Herz are considered in the article as dominant concepts in Russian and German conceptual pictures of private world of the person. The structure of the investigated concepts is revealed in its motivating, conceptual and figurative sides. The concepts heart and Herz in examples from German and Russian classical literature present themselves as substance, elements, a plant, an animal, a bird, a person with gender and national identities. Results of the comparative analysis demonstrate a universal character of the concepts.
