The article is devoted to the analysis of the national style of development of political process in modern Scotland. Authors pay the main attention to the problem of the Scottish identity. The concepts of the Scottish identity, British identity, ethnicity of Scots and others were analyzed. Authors paid considerable attention to the comparative analysis of the models of identity (for example those, that were offered by of A. Smith and D. Makkroun). The model of the imagined communities of B. Anderson was also analyzed. Therefore authors indicate distinctions between the state and national identity. The particular attention in the article is paid to the Scottish National Party (SNP), the only party in Scotland, political success of which is developing mainly due to the ethnicity factor. As a result the authors came to the conclusion that national style of the political process in modern Scotland is demonstrated in the forms of ethnicity and is caused by the peculiarities of the national and state identity of Scots.
