The paper analyzes the prospects for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict from the point of view of an explanatory model that reveals the logic of international conflicts. This model is based on regional security complex theory developed in the framework of securitization theory by representatives of the Copenhagen School of security studies. The authors of the paper consider the basic operational elements of these theories and apply them to the analysis of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It is concluded that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh depends significantly on external actors. In this context, an important point of research on the conflict is the elaboration of conceptual principles that develop the analytical framework of securitization theory and regional security complex theory. Such an approach can contribute to ensuring stability and security in the South Caucasus.
