The paper analyzes a find which is unique for the Oka-Don watershed. It is a fragment of an item terminating in a figure shaped as the head of a mythical animal. This item was discovered at the fortified settlement near the village of Supruty in excavation trench 28 dug in 2007. Morphologically similar items are known from burials of the Gnezdovo cemetery. Stylistically similar jewelry pieces come from settlements and cemeteries in the southeastern part of the Baltics region, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Given a small number of analogies and the context of the discovery, this find can be indicatively dated to the middle - second half of the 10th century. It fits well into the series of North European objects discovered at Supruty, and provides additional grounds for clarification of the site chronology.
