Findings of flails in the southeastern part of the Chuya valley in Kyrgyzstan

Бесплатный доступ

The paper describes the striking fighting weights, flails, discovered in recent years in the southeastern part of the Chuya Valley in Kyrgyzstan, and are kept in a private collection of antiquities in Bishkek. With the permission of the collection owner, the objects were examined, sketched, described and classified on formal grounds into specific types of the striking weapons of close combat. Parallels to described objects are established among the early studied fighting weights discovered in previous years in the northern Kyrgyzstan. Chronological and cultural attributions of the southeastern Chuya flails are proposed. Flails of this types are typical for the armament kit of the Tian Shan Kyrgyz culture.
