Advances in diffractive optics are shown to considerably contribute to the progress in a number of nanophotonics research directions, such as metamaterials, photonic crystals, plasmonics, optical trapping and manipulation of nanoobjects, and nanomodeling. Solution of a number of distinctive nanophotonic problems in the above-listed directions using methods of diffractive computer optics is presented.
