The melos as an organizational core of traditional and classical Russian musical culture

In this article, the author atempts to formulate a holistic view of Russian musical culture from the standpoint of its religious and national peculiarities. It is argued that the presence of a common denominator in the interaction of religious and traditional culture provided for its wholesomeness and established its “golden age”. Understanding the mechanisms of this relationship helps us appreciate Russian classical music as an inalienable part and apogee of Russian spirituality.
