The author proves the directions of improvement of the mechanism of strategic planning of regional industrial development. The author opens a concept the strategy of industrial development; methodological principles of formation of strategy of industrial development; concept of the mechanism of strategic planning of industrial development, its main substantial characteristics, its basic determinants; proves basic elements of conceptual model of development of industrial economy of the region as the system interested in maintenance and strengthening of system properties. The author unites basic properties of an industrial system of the region in groups: structural properties, properties of the movement and property of controllability.
