Scientific research competence as language pedagogy innovation

The article deals with the content and structure analysis of scientific research competence of a student teacher of foreign languages. The content analysis of scientific research competence presents a set of methodological, project, cognition-and-discourse, verification, innovation competences. The structure of each competence involves cognitive, practical and personal components. The article presents the results of students’ and teachers’ surveys which indicate that formation of scientific research competence in student teacher training is a specially organized process based on the structure and content characteristics of the given competence. The basic ways to form a scientific research competence of student teachers of foreign languages includes elective courses on methodology of a research, project forms of teaching, students’ participation in scientific conferences, etc.
