The article discusses the factors of development of the productive forces, the driving one of which, in the author ’s opinion, is the scientific and technical factor, namely the scientific and technological revolution as the highest form of scientific and technological progress, as it is evidenced by the analysis of historical process and the basic statements of historical materialism.
