The science sphere as the choice of young people (on the materials of the sociological research held in the national research Tomsk Polytechnic University)

The involvement of the young people into the science sphere today is the actual process not only in Russia but as well in other states with big experience in this process. The authors claim that profession of scientist is considered to be prestigious in the United States and is positioned on the 4th place in the rating of the professions, whereas in Russia it is only on the 19th place in the same rating. The authors especially emphasize that the increasing involvement of the talented youth in science becomes one of the resources of political power that helps a state to have a «soft» impact on the geopolitical space forming preferences and creating an attractive image of a country in the international arena through the resources of «soft power» and «smart power».
