Formation of artificial reservoirs in the second half of XX century. with the purpose of water supply to the needs of agriculture and the population has led to irreversible consequences in the surrounding landscapes. This is due to the rise in the level of groundwater and increased drainage of the territory. The purpose of the study is to identify the main negative geomorphological processes within the water protection zone of the Sur Lake reservoir. Based on the study of historical maps of the early 20th century (Schubert maps), remote sensing and satellite imagery methods, literature sources and field research, the main negative geomorphological processes were identified: abrasion, gully and river erosion, and suffosion.
