Private higher schools in the conditions of contemporary Russia: development trends, criteria features, research potential

The article deals with the problems of development of the non-government sector of the Russian system of higher professional education. Special attention is paid to the criteria features of private universities and their socio-economic functions. The author also notes the role of scientific subsystem of a private higher school and highlights its main feature - the research potential.
