The article is devoted to the historical reconstruction of the famous combat of Saltanovka where General Nicolas Raevsky and his sons played a remarkable role. The author argues that the very course of the combat had been misrepresented in Russian sources (primarily, in the relations by prince Bagration), and later, in the Russian historiography, because the Russian authors have not payed attention to the French sources. As a result, the obvious defeat of the Russian troops has been transformed into their victory, and the combat itself has been presented as a large battle.
