Neuroprotective actions of estradiol and novel estrogen analogs in ischemia

This article discusses the role of estradiol and novel estrogen analogs in preventing neuronal death during cerebral ischemia. An overview of the research findings on the significance of use of estrogen analogs in ischemia using the example of various animals. The mechanisms of the influence of estrogenic hormones on the survival of brain neurons are considered.
