The article defines the concept and features of uncompensated educational migration. The author considers the causes of this migration and its implications for social and economic development of such a Russian region as the Udmurt Republic. The uncompensated nature of educational migration is associated with the imbalance of flows of educational migrant arriving and leaving the territory of Udmurtia. This imbalance is caused by the difference between the level of socio-economic development and the level of higher education system development in the region.
