The article considers the relevance and importance of the study of the fundamental project "Moral culture of Finno-Ugric peoples"; investigates the specificity and uniqueness of moral values of Mordvinians. In modern society there is a tendency of self-awareness, self-identity and self-affirmation. In the field of attraction are as individuals and entire peoples, ethnic groups. The study of moral culture of ethnic groups, the definition of the relation of moral universals, and nationally specific moral concepts and norms, especially in the refractive index are universal moral requirements, it seems particularly relevant and meaningful. Growth of ethnic self-activation of the processes of national revival of the peoples of Russia, the problem of inter-ethnic relations raise the question about the choice of value priorities, which in turn requires an expansion of the problem field of ethical research in morality, along with the whole complex Ethnological Sciences - ethnography, ethnic policy of ethnic psychology, ethno-ethics. Moral culture of the Mordvinian ethnicity is represented as a system of values with respect to time, space, human qualities and positions, the fundamental relations between people and expression of their characters. The author analyzes the genesis of moral culture of Mordvinian ethnic group, identifies the major bases of ethno-morality, determines the prospects for the study of moral culture of the Finno-Ugric peoples.
