The author considers the features of the legal regulation of the search activity of operational units of the internal affairs bodies for the search for missing and unauthorized minors. The norms of the current legislation governing legal relations arising in the process of implementing this activity are analyzed. An emphasis is on the need to eliminate legislative contradictions and improve the legal regulation of legal relations arising in the field of activity under consideration. Materials and methods: the normative basis of the study forms operational-search legislation, legislative acts governing the searches for the search for various categories of unknown persons who have not reached the age of age. The methodological basis of the study was the general dialectical method of scientific knowledge, which is universal in nature, as well as cognitive methods of generalization and description, techniques of observation, comparison and analysis. The results of the study: allowed us to formulate proposals aimed at improving legislation in the field of searching for minors who have missed and arbitrarily departed from families or specialized state institutions. Findings and Conclusions: Analysis of the current legislation in the area under consideration indicates the need to make proposals aimed at improving the legal regulation of social relations in this area, for their streamlining, development in accordance with social needs.
