Some aspects of victimological prevention against law enforcement officers

The article considers victimogenic components of service in the internal affairs bodies (hereinafter - IAB), identifies some factors of increased vulnerability of IAB employees, caused by deficiencies in the organization of professional training, status-role and moral features of official activity, reveals theoretical and practical problems of victimological prevention of encroachments on the interests of IAB employees.In modern conditions, ensuring the personal safety of police officers when performing the tasks assigned to them becomes particularly acute and relevant. Shortcomings in the organization of service, vocational training and education, personnel work, provision of social and living conditions and psychological support entail negative consequences in the form of psycho-emotional and physical overloads, professional deformation and “burnout” of the employee’s personality, which predetermines a significant vulnerability of this category of persons. In these circumstances, they need specialized victimological assistance.As a result of the conducted research, the author suggests a number of measures to improve the forms and methods of victimological prevention, aimed primarily at the implementation of targeted vocational training, assistance in overcoming the difficulties of service, adaptations in the service team, to ensure the security and protective capabilities of potential victims in the person of the police department.
