Some pages of V.F. Komissarzhevskaya's creative biography: dedicated to the 155th anniversary

The joint concert performances of the great Russian actress Vera Fedorovna Komissarzhevskaya and the famous musician Alexander Ilyich Ziloti, which took place in St. Petersburg in the hall of the Noble Assembly, and in Moscow in the house of the Noble Assembly are discussed in the paper. The author focuses attention on the performance of V.F. Komissarzhevskaya melodeclamation - a new genre that appeared in Russia at the beginning of the ХХ century. She performed with poems by I.S. Turgenev, V.A. Zhukovsky accompanied by music by F. List and A.S. Arensky. V.F. Komissarzhevskaya performed with melodeclamation in several concert seasons of A.I. Ziloti, which made them even more popular with listeners. Critical statements about melodeclamation, archival documents and the little-known facts from the creative life of actress are presented in the study. The author concludes that the joint work of V.F. Komissarzhevskaya and A.I. Ziloti had a great significance in the culture of St. Petersburg at the beginning of the XX century.
