Non-material factors of the protest communication and consolidation: the Russian context

The author tries to study the problem of the protest genesis through the prisms of the non-material factors influence. Applying to the historical and philosophical tradition, the author discusses the consistency of such non-materialistic methodological paradigms of the social consolidation explaining as symbolic interactionism, the theory of frames, the concept of the post-material values, etc. Consistently investigating the specifics of protest actions all over the world during recent years the author summarizes the consistency of the communicative methodology that interprets protest self-organization as a special communication based on a unique interaction code and value system that is alternative to the one articulated by authority and bureaucracy. However, the expanse of digital media does not turn it into a mechanism for revolutionary self-organization. The Russian situation of the normative limitation of the protest consolidation in spite the widest spread of new media is a vivid example of this.
