Unintentional drug overdose and suicidal behavior among drug addicts

The data of literature about the high frequency of unintentional drug overdose and suicidal behavior among drug addicts. In order to evaluate these two indicators conducted continuous (non-selective) survey of 426 patients with opioid addiction (F11), applied to 3,6 years. Unintentional drug overdose recorded significantly more often (27.1%) among persons with suicidal behavior, confirming the close relationship between these events and justifies the mandatory identification of cases of overdose when collecting medical history to estimate the increased risk of suicide among this group of patients.
