Non-eliminability and ambivalence of an ideology

The paper analyzes the functions of an ideology in the contemporary society. The author highlights such functions, as: consolidation, goal-setting, management, legitimation, axiological, and communicative. In addition, the negative consequences of consciousness manipulation are stated. The conclusion of S.G. Kara-Murza is drawn, that for Russia the transition to the manipulative type of authority would mean the change of language, thinking and culture in general (indirect genocide).
