The article deals with the dynamics of the natural-anthropogenic ecosystems of Lower Park (120 hectares), under the influence of natural and anthropogenic processes, and the role of the park in the history of the city and Russia. The park was created in 1805, at the Lipetsk resort. It arose as a response to the political processes in Europe in the early nineteenth century, based on the natural resources of the central Russian belt. The lower park defines the face of the city of Lipetsk, gives it special appeal and recognition. The appointment of the park as a recreational zone remains unchanged. Currently, the park is classified as a regional protected area. Botanical value of the park is determined by the presence of decorative exotic trees, the original areas, the distribution of which is located on different continents. A number of bird species nest on the territory of the park. Unfortunately, there are changes in the composition of park-forming wood and shrub species. The park is linked to milestones in the history of our country, here rested representatives of the noble families of Russia, it was visited by famous scientists and foresters. The council of members of the «Narodnaya Volya» was held in 1879 in the park. Lipetsk park keeps the material artifacts of past centuries: cast-iron cannons (the beginning of the 18th century), the building of bathrooms (1805), monuments of the Soviet era and modern Russia. On the territory of the park there is a tract Petrovsky pond, the landscape transformations of which can be traced from the end of the 17th century to the present day. Lower park performs aesthetic and ecological functions, promotes a healthy lifestyle, provides the population with a variety of entertainment. From the ecosystem point of view, the park fulfills the functions of filtration fields in the high part of the city, transforming and cleaning storm drains, and also improving the air space of the metallurgical city.
