The Peoples’ Commissariat of Internal Affairs-the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in the fight against the nationalist underground: questions of historiography

The authors explore the historiography of the struggle of the internal affairs bodies and internal troops of the Soviet Union with the nationalists during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period. Specific works and their general characteristics are given. The authors note the increased relevance of both the issue itself and the need for factual support for countering Russophobic nationalism. The given scientific and archival sources allow the modern researcher to objectively and reliably investigate the question of the true activity of nationalist movements and the role of the organs and troops of the NKVD-MVD of the USSR in the fight against them.
