Nomadic economy of Buryats in the 18th - early 20th cent

In the article the traditional forms of economic activity of the Buryat population in the Eastern Siberia are considered, the changes that take place in it after Buryatia joined the Russian state. The transformation of forms and methods of conducting cattle-breeding is traced for the XVIII - XIX centuries through the early twentieth century. The author researches and analyzes the most important process of transition from the pure nomadic mode of life of the Buryat population to semi-nomadic and settled ways of conducting farming. In the article the natural and climatic conditions of agricultural production are presented, their varieties in different regions of Buryatia that have determined the location of some branches of agrarian production and also the nature of the production. In the work the considerable attention is paid to negative factors that have negatively influenced on the cattle-breeding of the indigenous population of the region and also the article is focused on the new more modern ways of conducting economic activity that have arisen and developed for the considered period.
