A new book about L.N. Tolstoy, his family and the writer’s daughters

The review examines a new and very profound book by N.G. Mikhnovets about L.N. Tolstoy and his closest people, first of all, women - his wife and three daughters. In the monograph, for the first time in Tolstoy studies, the problem of L.N. Tolstoy’s departure from Yasnaya Polyana in 1910 is shown in a truly profound and comprehensive manner, naming not invented, but real reasons for this event. Truly innovative in the book is the detailed presentation of the fates of Tolstoy’s daughters: the author of the book turns to the most personal facts and events of their lives, and also shows the difficult paths of Tatyana Lvovna Sukhotina Tolstoy and Alexandra Lvovna Tolstaya against the background of the history of Russia and world history of the 20th century.
