Novelties about the geographical indications as intellectual property rights

This article discusses the problems of development of Russian regions with a new civil law Institute-the Institute of geographical indications. The authors determine the prerequisites for the idea of legal protection of geographical indications, including international legal nature, analyze the main objectives, the provisions of the draft federal law «On amendments to part four of the Civil code of the Russian Federation», offer mechanisms for improving legislation in this area.
