New in evidence-based platelets transfusion

The TOPPS trial did not show equivalence of platelet prevention transfusions and rejecting them. Patients who did not receive prophylaxis, longer had bleeding WHO degree 2 or higher, a shorter time to first bleeding. Prophylactic platelet transfusion strategy for 7% reduces the incidence of bleeding. Such preventive strategy in 2007 has been provided by the “Guidelines of blood components transfusion” in the Pirogov Center. Accordingly, there is no reason to change our clinical practice.
