The New Year festivities for youth and children in 1953–1964 (at the example of Stalingrad – Volgograd)

The summary of origin of the New Year traditions in the history of the Russian government is given. There is revealed the role of the Soviet regime in the development of the New Year as the national holiday of the USSR. With the use of the archive sources and periodical press the picture of celebrating the New Year party as the form of leisure of the urban population in Stalingrad- Volgograd is built.
