News genre in regional print media

The article analyzes the news genres in modern regional media. The authors study the socio-political newspaper "Vpered" published in the city of Bataysk (Rostov Region of Russia). The main goal of the study is to analyze news genres in the "Vpered" newspaper. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: to characterize news genres in modern journalism; to give a general description of the regional newspaper "Vpered"; analyze the news genres in this newspaper. It is concluded that the most common genre in the regional newspaper under study is the newspaper story.
