New classical sites in surroundings of the Greek colony Callatis (Mangalia, Romania)

The paper presents new materials from the Greek colony of Callatis located within the territory of city Mangalia (Romania). The colony was founded by immigrants from Heraclea Pontica most likely in VI c. BC. Over 150 year-long investigations have been conducted in Callatis, yet the state of its study remains insufficient. In 2011 an agreement was concluded between the Museum of archaeology Callatis in Mangalia and Moscow State regional university, as a result, memebers of the Russian team participate in archaeological excavations of the city. The joint team succeded to discover an antique villa near the lake of Hergelia and two quarries in the vicinity of ancient Callatis.
