At present, there is no unanimous understanding on the origin of the so-called Kargopol type of pottery. Some researchers see it as an independent type of The Early Neolithic pottery, others are prone to think that this is a variety of pit-comb pottery dating back to The Middle Neolithic period. The article analyses some new data based on the investigations of 2007 on Neolithic settlement of Soydozero-1 located in Vytegra District of Vologda Region. According to the typological analysis of ceramic collections, which included pit-comb, Kargopol type, comb-pickings, comb, and ceramics, the sequence of land settlement was reconstructed. Analysis of the molding compounds indicates differences in technologies for both pit-comb and Kargopol type of ceramics. Interactions among culturally different groups of people manufacturing comb ceramics and Kargopol type ceramics were noted by the author. This interaction led to appearance of hybrid types of vessels. Based on the analysis of ceramic collections and planigrafic observations the author makes a conclusion about The Early Neolithic Age of Kargopol ceramics found in Soydozero-1 settlement (Southern Onego Lake Environs).
