The paper presents new data on the mineralogy of weathering crust and hydrothermal quartz veins on Nyiakhoiskoye-2 gold-bearing deposite (Polar Urals). The dominant minerals of clays are slightly altered muscovite and chlorite with minor mixed-layered minerals. The presence of paragonite (rarely pyrophyllite) is the peculiarity of clays. Smectite formation in arctic climate is caused by unusual conditions of rock transformation with hydrothermal influence. Homogenizing temperatures of inclusions, inclusion salinity and pressure that widely varies gave the evidence of hydrothermal-metamorphogenetic origin of veins. At the Manitanyrd ore region we can observe only the beginning of weathering crust formation process - presence of the oxidation and disintegration zone.
