New communication technologies in contemporary human perception

The purpose of this study is to analyze the perception of the new communication technologies by the contemporary human, and accordingly, what kind of sociotechnical imaginary is formed in relation to modern network communication technologies. The research methods include the analysis and synthesis of surveys on the subject matter. The paper reveals the idea that, in the perception of modern society, network technologies are an absolutely necessary part of everyday life providing security and communication opportunities. At the same time, they serve as a source of threat from criminals, terrorists and an encroachment on privacy. The survey results can be applied in case of the state policy development with regard to the legal regulation of network technologies, in training courses in the sociology of mass communication, the theory of communication, within the courses devoted to the research on science and technology.
