New trends of social media application in the electoral process

This article describes the methods of using social media in the electoral process. The author considers how and by what tools the election campaigns interact with voters. The purpose of the article is to identify the new modes of election campaigns. In the course of the study the author shows that the social media is an effective platform in the electoral process allowing to disseminate information and reach potential voters usually alienated. It is concluded that in the conditions of rapid changes in the political space with the mass introduction of digital technologies, the study of new trends of social media use in the election campaigns is an absolute must for understanding the essential characteristics of the political processes.
