Winter wheat is the most important food crop, which has a significant share in the structure of sown areas of grain crops of the Samara region. This is an insurance crop and its advantage is especially noticeable in dry years. A huge role in solving these problems belongs to the variety. Breeding at the present stage is faced with the task of creating new varieties that combine high yield potential with adaptability to abiotic factors, resistance to diseases and pests with good product quality. The basis for solving these problems is the purposeful selection to create varieties capable of forming high productivity and quality grain in different climatic conditions. The article presents the morphological and economic and biological characteristics of a new variety of winter soft wheat Povolzskaya Niva .
