A new variety of grain sorghum Kinelskoye 63 for the Srednevolzhskiy and Ural regions

The article presents a complete characterization of new variety of grain sorghum Kinelskoye 63 created in Federal state budgetary scientific institution "Povolzhskiy scientific research Institute of selection and seed farming named after P. N. Konstantinov". According to The results of the state variety testing, the variety has been approved for use in the 7 (Srednevolzhskiy) and 9 (Ural) regions of the Russian Federation since 2017. The advantage of the variety appear early ripeness, stunting, high yield, plasticity, resistance to lodging, brittleness of stems and panicles during dead-ripe stage, shedding of grain. Grain yield during the years of study (2012-2018) compose from 27.9 C/ha to 50.4 C/ha with continuous sowing. The grain contains 9-13% crude protein, 63-78% starch and 3-6% fat. In 100 kg of grain contains 130 fodder units. Variety Matures in late August-early September. Suitable for mechanized harvesting by conventional grain harvesters both separately and directly.
