Archpriest christopher varfolomeev as new hieromartyr of Saint Petersburg Theological Schools

On meeting of the Sacred Synod of Russian Orthodox Church on December, 28 2017 archpriest Christopher Varfolomeev was glorified in the rank of saints as a new hieromartyr of Saint Petersburg Theological schools. He was known in the “north capital”, foremost, by his service as an abbot of the St. Peter church on Romenskaya street and by his activity in life of Aleksandro-Nevskoe brotherhood. After closing of the St. Peter church, father Christopher served in Preobrazhenskiy cathedral. On January, 17 1934 archpriest Christopher Varfolomeev was arrested in matters of “Brotherhood of hl. Sergiy and Herman Valaamsky”, but he refused to confess himself guilty, and on February, 25 1934 he was sentenced to the conclusion in a concentration camp for five years in Sevvostoklage. Originally, he was brought to Vladivostok, and then sent in the Magadan area (on Kolyma). On September, 8 1938 he died in a camp hospital. The place of his burial place is unknown.
