Moral education in commercial schools of Eastern Siberia at the beginning of the XX century

Some most important aspects of moral education of students at commercial schools of Eastern Siberia are disclosed in the article. Every employee, including the principal, of a commercial school was assigned the duty of doing educational work,. However the main role belonged to an educator. He had to win studentsۥ confidence, indisputable authority, to set an example of honesty, truthfulness, to be a standard of accuracy, conscientiousness in fulfilling his engagements. It is noted that religiousness, sense of justice, honesty, will-power, self-criticism and self-dependency were of great significance in moral education of students. The system of punishment is elucidated and its place in moral reformation of students is defined in the article.
