Nikolai Leskov and the process of the Oryol region literary space formation

The article considers the features of geoliterary space of Nikolai Leskov, his biographical, associative and complex literary landmarks in the Oryol region. The formation of geoliterary space is based on two processes: the process of literary depiction and memorization. The study was intended to reveal the writer's complex landmarks and non-literary components of the Oryol regional text which are connected to these landmarks (regional text as in the works by V. Toporov). In different texts non-literary components include the features of nature, household, key spatial loci, geographical location, communities, social characteristics, regional actors and important events of the regional history. The paper proposes the use of the method of analytic geoliterary cartography - the map of biographical and associative places of Nikolai Leskov is given in the article. Special attention is given to the key literary places of the writer, their images, as well as the features of nature and culture of each place. The conclusion provides an insight on the role of Nikolai Leskov in memorization of the life and works of Ivan Turgenev, including the actualization of Turgenev's literary images and the creation of new literary landmarks that are connected with Turgenev.
