The publication is a continuation of the discussion of the problems of historical epistemology. The author argues that the change of paradigms in historical science is due to the need for a qualitative update of scientific knowledge. Updating of modern historiography is based on the impossibility of approaching history, reflecting a general historical theory (global, total paradigm), capable of embracing and transmitting the widest diversity of the historical process according to uniform schemes and development models. Positioning himself as a follower of the tradition of the synthetic approach in the Russian historical school, the author expresses an opinion about the manifestation of a crisis in the understanding of history, but not the crisis of historical science itself.
