Introduction. Official statistics show that in the modern period, the fight against criminal manifestations in society, including recidivism, requires special attention. At the same time, countering criminal manifestations in society should be considered as an integral part of activities aimed at ensuring the national security of the country. That is why the appeal to research on the prevention and prevention of various types of crime is characterized by its relevance and timeliness. Materials and methods. The normative basis of this research consists of such legal acts as the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the Penal Enforcement Code of Russia, etc. The paper uses official current statistical data characterizing recidivism. The key research methods were the description method, the statistical data analysis method, the synthesis method, the description method, etc. Results of the study. The concept of state policy in the field of combating recidivism assigns preventive activities a priority place in the overall system of measures to combat this type of crime. The re-socialization of persons released from prison is one of the important directions in the prevention of recidivism. Problematic issues related to this have been present before, which is why the state has always sought to resolve this issue. There are various types of prevention of recidivism, such as general, special and individual prevention. So, if general prevention measures are aimed at improving all spheres of society, then special prevention measures are primarily focused on working with the criminal population. Special prevention measures can include the development and implementation of a program for the prevention of recidivism, the criminological basis of which should be special studies of this type of crime, highlighting the general processes of determination and specific ones related specifically to this category of criminals. Findings and conclusions. Currently, the problem of combating recidivism is characterized by its relevance. It is advisable to consider the prevention of recidivism as a measure aimed at ensuring the national security of the country as a whole. That is why it is important to continue the fight against this type of crime and take into account modern ways of its prevention.
